| John Bunyan was sent to prison for field preaching, which was an offence in 1660. He was held in the County Gaol at Bedford, where he spent the next 12 years. During this time Bunyan completed several books, including his renowned "The Pilgrim's Progress". | |

| The story begins with Christian, the hero, starting his journey along a winding road. He has many adventures, all of which are designed to point out the temptations and sins of ordinary people and how the bible and church can help to overcome these problems. | On his journey Christian meets Apollyon, the dragon, who represents the devil and evil. |

| Christian arrives at Vanity Fair. Vanity Fair represents the temptations put in front of people, which they should try to avoid. | Eventually Christian arrives at the end of his adventure - the Celestial City. The Celestial City shone like the Sun. |
